What is the difference between Hybrid and Solvent Liquid Rubber?
Hybrid Liquid Rubber is acrylic-based and ideal for flexible waterproofing on roofs, slabs and walls. Solvent Liquid Rubber is polyvinyl-based and offers stronger adhesion for demanding surfaces such as corrugated metal roofs and high-exposure areas. Solvent can be applied over torch-on surfaces. Standing water adhesion.
Can I apply liquid rubber directly over rust?
The Solvent Liquid Rubber includes rust-converting properties, but all surfaces must be properly cleaned and prepared before application to ensure optimal adhesion and durability. Badly rusted areas to be treated with Deoxidene / edge primer before application.
Does the product require a primer?
For most applications, no separate primer is required. Depending on the surface condition, a suitable primer may be used if needed. For Hybrid Liquid Rubber, a water-based bonding liquid can be applied to improve adhesion before additional coats are applied.
How many coats are required?
A minimum of two coats is recommended. The first coat can be diluted as per instructions, followed by an undiluted second coat once the surface is ready. A third coat can be applied should you deem it necessary.
How long does it take to dry?
Drying times depend on weather conditions and surface exposure.
Solvent: Approximately 30–45 minutes between coats, depending on temperature and weather conditions.
Hybrid: Approximately 1–1.5 hours between coats, depending on temperature and weather conditions.
Is the product UV resistant?
Yes. Both Hybrid and Solvent Liquid Rubber systems are designed to withstand harsh sun exposure and resist fading or degradation.
What surfaces can this be applied to?
Suitable surfaces include corrugated metal roofs, tiled roofs, flat concrete slabs, balconies, exterior walls, floors, wood and steel structures, provided the surface is properly cleaned and prepared.
Is this suitable for DIY use?
Yes, provided application instructions are followed carefully. Both Hybrid and Solvent Liquid Rubber can be applied using a brush, roller or airless spray. For large commercial or industrial projects, professional application is recommended.
How long does the coating last?
When applied correctly and properly maintained, the coating can last up to 7 years. It delivers long-lasting waterproof protection with strong UV and weather resistance under typical South African conditions.
How should the product be stored?
Store in a cool, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure lids are sealed properly after use.
Can I choose different colours?
Yes. The product is available in the following standard colours: Black, Charcoal, Light Grey, Mid Grey, Brown, Red, Burgundy, Terracotta, Green, White and Cream. Additional colours can be mixed on special orders, however pricing may differ.
Do you offer bulk or trade pricing?
